Owners Marie & Gyan

Marie and Gyan are a Mother-Daughter duo who have been working together for six years, with three cafes under their belts. Penny Lane is their first venture to have a bar and throw a chef in the kitchen.

Penny Lane is an extension of Gyan and Marie’s home, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, showcasing sentimental old world pieces, timber and earthy tones.

It took the four women of the family and one very handy man (dad) to bring this business together, with each leaving their own mark.

The pairs first and foremost reason for going into business was to spend more time together and allow everyone else the pleasure of experiencing Marie’s (mum’s) amazing baking.

Michael has previously worked in Melbourne in prestigious 3 hat restaurants and 5 star hotels such as The Sofitel Hotel, Hardware Societe, St. Ali, Le Restaurant, & the Duchess of Spotswood. Since moving to the Northern Rivers he has worked at Footbridge in Brunswick Heads and the Byron Bay Brewery. Michael’s passion for food and cooking has been fuelled and inspired by the great chefs he has worked with over the years as he has developed his own, unique style.
